"The new journey requires a stronger prayer life, a new mindset and new habits."

When I was younger, I wanted my love story to be one that you marry your first kiss & hand you held. God dreamed up in my heart that my wedding will redeem the way my family views on love. And that we will show the world how ‘sweet the love that only God can bring.

Reality was different and I felt like a failure for not living up to that dream I’ve always held so precious in my heart. I did things my own way. And I realized I cannot bring about His promise to pass with my own way. I got tired of waiting and I did not believe that God will give what He promised.

If you believe that you will get what you promised for, you don’t go out shopping. Don’t you believe the Author of love can give you the love you so desire?

Believing in a good God

As I play with my 4 years old and 6 years old step siblings, I can imagine how much I would have loved being a mother, taking my children to Disneyland. Or being a wife to choose furnitures at IKEA. Or supporting my future husband’s career. Yet in this season of waiting, I honor God by preparing well with what I have now.

Do you know what He does in our waiting?

  • To learn contentment in your singleness; being whole first

How can I appreciate God’s bigger gifts later if I am not thankful for the ones now?

  • To build up good habit of prayer, Bible reading, exercise & community

If I don’t pray now and learn to listen, how can I know when He leads me to my partner?

  • To live to the fullness of your passions

Having the time to know yourself and fully dedicate yourself to work until season changes

  • To build deep friendships

Our character is forged in intimacy and connections with others

Truly He purifies, heals, and grow us in the waiting. He changed my heart that now I want nothing but His plans. And wait for His best. Because I realized I would never be able to fulfill this desire on my own.

No good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. - Ps. 84:11

Someone asked me, “If you are hanging out clubs and bars, how does that honor your future husband?”

In the waiting when God purifies, He works on the strongholds in our minds. It may be becuase you’ve been hurt so much that you don’t know you deserved better. Like God did for me, He wants to free you and deliver you from your ‘ways that settle for less’. Left to my own demise, I’d still be in the old familiar pattern of being with a man not from God.

When old memories resurface, I would ask God, “make me new memories, God.” Until the past becomes an old ragged garment and until God make me believe I am already wearing a new royal robe, fitting for a daughter of Christ.

Give what is on your hands
What you hold is holding you back. You have to give to God what you are holding on to, in exchange for something better He has for me.

You have prayed for God to process you to be a godly wife, and He give you the opportunities to be pure in the waiting. You have prayed for a love story from Him, He is training your eyes of faith. You asked God for a man of God, and He is preparing you to be a woman of God who prays. You prayed for a Godly family, learn to lead yourself first as a daughter of gOD.

Sometimes our desire for relationship and marriage overshadow our desire for God. Satan can use that to make us bitter and resentful to God. Trust Him. Whatever you sow now, God sees and honors that.

Make room, He is about to do something new, sisters!
